Job Title: Histotechnician IJob Description
Join our dynamic team as a Histotechnician I where you will process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examination. This role involves performing technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens, sectioning embedded tissue using a microtome, mounting sections on a microscope slide, and conducting various immunohistochemical tests. You will also be responsible for routine and special staining procedures, embedding surgical tissue specimens, preparing necessary stains and reagents, and reporting accurate test results to ensure quality patient care. Additional duties include operating and maintaining manual and automated instruments, performing equipment maintenance, documenting preventive maintenance, adhering to quality control policies, and following procedures for specimen handling, analysis, and reporting. You will troubleshoot problems affecting test performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Hard Skills
Associate's degree in Chemical/Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
Histology certification (preferred)
Immunohistochemistry
Routine histology procedures and equipment handling
Experience in high volume laboratory environment (desirable)
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail
High organizational skills
Ability to accurately read labels and documents
Adherence to laboratory SOPs and safety protocols

Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Baltimore, Maryland.
Work Environment
This position offers two shifts: Monday-Friday from 5am - 1:30pm and 6am - 2:30pm. The role requires passing a standardized color vision screen and may require specific state licenses.
