Actalent Senior Transmission Line Engineer in Charleston, South Carolina

Actalent Engineering is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to work under the direction of Principal Engineers and Engineering Managers. The successful candidate will independently evaluate, select and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements. They will be responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of large projects, as well as determine the design approach and work with the design team to prepare required design documents. They will also monitor project execution milestones and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time, and follow up on construction issues with design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner.

This opportunity is a 12-month contract -to-hire to join this leading consulting firm internally and will remain a fully remote position with the potential of up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Independent evaluation, selection and application of engineering principles

  • Defining project objectives, preparing design estimates, and defining project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects

  • Determining design approach and preparing required design documents

  • Conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project

  • Preparing and verifying calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application specific software as required

  • Managing assignments of other design team members to ensure adherence to scope, schedule and budget

  • Directing project design teams comprised of engineers, designers and technicians on a single project

  • Monitoring project execution milestones and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule

  • Performing technical and coordination checking/ review of deliverables and other project documents

  • Ensuring deliverables comply with Business Unit procedures and meet applicable design requirements

  • Following up on construction issues with design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner

  • Identifying conflicting design or schedule requirements and generating Project Deviation Notices in a timely fashion

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree of Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years Transmission Line Engineer experience

  • Expert in PLS-CADD software programs
