Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

As a lab technician, your main responsibilities will include maintaining ongoing records of all testing procedures and inputting this data into the computer daily. You will be responsible for maintaining the supplies used for testing procedures and notifying the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies. You will be required to compare equipment readouts with samples of standards to ensure accurate system operations. A neat and clean working area must be maintained at all times, including washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areas. You will be expected to maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completing all safety certification requirements. This role also requires adherence to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines.

Hard Skills

  • Moisture testing

  • Density testing

  • Viscosity testing

  • Basic chemistry

  • Prepare process and finished product samples

  • Perform analytical testing using instrumental, wet chemistry procedures

  • Record results using computerized data systems

  • Daily process monitoring tests

  • Maintaining samples of tested product

  • Documenting results of all testing procedures

  • Prompt notification of operations of required adjustments

  • Data entry and reporting using a Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

  • Light maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipment

Soft Skills

  • Ability to adhere to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Columbus, Nebraska.

Work Environment

The position requires swing shifts, which rotate between 3 days on 2 days off, 2 days on 3 days off, and then rotate to nights with the same schedule. Training will be provided for 2-3 weeks at a pay rate of 22.93/hr, after which the rate will increase to 25.08/hr upon transitioning to the swing shifts schedule. Each shift is 12 hours long, from 7 am to 7 pm. This role requires being on your feet for the entire shift with a 30-minute lunch break, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
