Actalent Hematology Processor in Elmwood Park, New Jersey

Job Title: Hematology Processor

Job Description

As a Hematology Processor, you will handle a lower volume but higher priority of STAT samples, sometimes requiring direct communication with physicians via call or email. Responsibilities include receiving, identifying, labeling, and processing specimens, maintaining production goals to ensure consistent specimen flow, transcribing and entering data with 100% accuracy, and performing supply maintenance and clean-up duties. You will also handle sealed COVID-19 and other samples such as blood, stool, urine, and biopsies while wearing proper personal protective equipment and adhering to safety guidelines.

Hard Skills

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Passing typing test (7500 keystrokes per hour with 95% accuracy)

  • Previous laboratory or accessioning experience

Soft Skills

  • Ability to multitask

  • High attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.

Work Environment

Work in a large specimen processing room, logging patient information on sample tubes and ensuring data accuracy, alongside over 80 colleagues on night shifts. Note that safety precautions are observed, though space limitations mean that social distancing of 6 feet may not always be possible. The work mainly involves typing and sitting at a computer for 90-100% of the shift.
