Actalent Jr. Estimator in New Hyde Park, New York
A Heavy Civil construction company in Nassau County is seeking a Junior Estimator to join their team and work on utility construction projects, specifically with National Grid and ConEd. The projects will involve tasks such as transformer foundations, excavation, piles, trenching, and shoring. While Heavy Civil experience is not mandatory, candidates with experience in commercial construction with a General Contractor will be considered.
The Junior Estimator will be based in the office when not conducting site visits, which will primarily be in the 5 boroughs but may also include Long Island. Responsibilities will include bid-walks, obtaining drawings and specifications, securing vendor quotes, submitting Requests for Information (RFIs), and performing takeoffs. During periods of downtime and between estimating duties, the candidate will also assist with Project Management tasks.
Skills required for this role include construction estimation, bidding, construction management, takeoffs, project management, cost estimation, knowledge of estimating software, and familiarity with heavy civil construction practices.
