Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Rockville, Maryland
Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description
The Mechanical Engineer is tasked with the mechanical design, testing, and documentation of biotech instrumentation and scientific instrumentation. This role involves developing new instrumentation and supporting existing instrumentation for the biodefense, clinical, and life-science markets. The engineer will lead the planning, design, build, and testing of manufacturing test fixtures to support the production of new instrumentation, and supports verification and validation/integration and testing campaigns to validate design performance for formal and informal tests. Additionally, responsibilities include working through the entire product development process from initial concept through design, testing, and fielding on multiple efforts, and occasionally supporting systems requirements creation and specification creation for new and existing products.
Hard Skills
Experience with mechanical and electromechanical systems design using Solidworks
Experience with medical device or scientific instrument design and development
Experience with precision applications (mechatronics, precision motion, robotics, fluidics, etc)
Experience with mechanisms, robotics, moving mechanical systems
Experience with tolerance stack ups and/or GD&T
Soft Skills
Ability to work closely with other team members and multi-discipline teams
Leadership in planning and hands-on prototyping
Capability to work with vendors for technical updates and troubleshooting
