Actalent Design Engineer in Traver, California

Description:

Job Responsibilities & Duties:

Design customized equipment by utilizing 2D & 3D design software to create models and

manufacturing drawings

Investigate validity of new design processes & tools with the Product Teams, documenting

new processes and procedures as applicable

Communicate project decisions and deliverables with the Project Engineer, Technical Sales

Engineer and Project Manager

Project cost impact associated with materials, engineering labor and design related decisions

as compared to the estimates and forecasting of deliverables

Employ principals of designing for manufacturability

Interface with Manufacturing and external Suppliers for component selection, manufacturing

and assembly

Organize in‐house resources.

Train and mentor junior staff

Plan and obtain additional work authorizations as required for scope changes.

R & D – Work on building prototype and field test units for new products, help bring new

products from R & D to commercial unit

Work with applications engineers in conversion of sales drawings into production engineering

drawings

Project Management: Coordinate project requirements and work with various departments

to ensure adherence to and coordination of the following: development of engineering

drawings, documentation, scheduling for completion of assigned projects, factory acceptance

testing, and delivery of equipment at customer site

Travel to supervise the install and commissioning of equipment as necessary

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum of 4‐5 years’ experience in machine design

3-4 years’ experience with 2D & 3D design software (Design and Basic Analysis)

Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge

Mechanically inclined (calculate loads and deflections)

Must be self‐motivated and innovative

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work under pressure and with short deadlines

Excellent customer service skills with external and internal customers
